Welcome to the Fit Forum! I’ve set up the site with a collaborator, Steve Hearsum, and this is quick note to introduce the idea and invite you to our first event, an inquiry into ‘What is Fit?‘
The Fit Forum is a place to talk about and explore ideas around ‘Human Fit’, and takes as its starting point the rhetoric of fit in popular culture and organisational life.
‘Fit’ between managers and players, the latest contestants in Big Brother, Cabinet Ministers or prospective employer and employee, cultural fit, organisational fit and so on… there is a lot of ‘fit’ about.
Discussion about ‘fit’ is often in the territory of relationships, alignment, culture or even whether someone is a ‘good egg’ and ‘one of us’ – the Fit Forum aims to talk about fit in more explicit terms, getting under the skin of the assumptions and rhetoric.
This point is perhaps best illustrated by the notion that when we first started the site, to our surprise we found that there wasn’t an entry on wikipedia for ‘Human Fit’. This has now been resolved with an entry here – feel free to add and edit, it is merely a starting point.
If this is an idea or topic that is of interest, feel free to join us on our first call where we tackle the question ‘What is Fit’?
As we’re just starting, feel free to add a comment if you would like to be on our first call on the 16th July.
